Abstract (EN)

This research aims to evaluate the adaptation of Syrian foreigners with temporary protection status in Turkey to the Diyarbakir economy. The study examined the participation of individuals in this group in the labor market, their effects on unregistered employment, and their reflections on economic indicators such as unemployment and inflation. Determining the positive or negative effects of this Syrian population, which is increasingly integrated into our socio-economic structure, on the economy is important for predicting possible economic problems in the future and taking appropriate measures. In addition, the need for effective monitoring of implemented policies is emphasized. The research in question aims to contribute to other academic studies on the economic effects of migration. In the methodological part of the study, the survey data obtained within the framework of the determined hypotheses were evaluated using the SPSS analysis program. According to the analysis results of the survey data, it has been determined that the adaptation of male Syrian foreigners to the Turkish economy is high. Additionally, it was concluded that participants in the 18-29 age group adapted more to the Turkish economy. Likewise, it has been observed that participants whose income level is 17,000 TL (minimum amount for 2024) and below has a high adaptation to the economy. As a result of the interviews conducted during the study, it is revealed that the majority of Syrian foreigners either have to work in the unregistered economy or are not officially employed in any job. While this phenomenon reveals that unregistered activities are widespread in the labor market, it also emphasizes that regulations in this field are necessary. At the same time, the effects of informality on the labor market show that it is an issue that needs to be addressed and solved in terms of both social and economic dimensions.
