Abstract (EN)

Titled as ?A Sociological Research On Temporary Village Guards?, this is a field research study carried out on the temporary village guards who work in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Sample of this research includes 245 temporary village guards. Moreover, informal interview was carried out with 18 temporary village guards, 5 old village guards, 12 civil citizens, public administrator and representative of non-govermental organizations. Advantages and disadvantages of village guard sytem, sociocultural and economic profile of village guards and their problems, the relation between tribe structure and village guard system, trust relation between public administrator and village guards are researched in this study. Village guards? perspectives on PKK and Kurdish problem, village guards? perception of state and local people?s viewpoint on village guard system are attempted to be identified. In addition, village guards? opinions on abolition of the system and possible situations after the abolition are aimed to be established.
