İslam in Colombia from past to present

This thesis presents a balance of historical and social studies about the Muslim community in Colombia. The text explores: 1) The different possible Muslim influences that arrived historically in Colombia. 2) A historiographical balance on monographic production related to Islam in Colombia. 3) The evaluation of the current state of Islam in Colombia as a community and as a field of study. This research is developed from a historiographical approach, giving an account of the interaction between the social place of the enunciation and the geographical space from where the different historiographic records about Islam in Colombia are produced. This study also allows to identify a chronology of the History of Islam in the country with its respective historiographical records, as well as the current status of the Muslim community in Colombia. This study also presents a classification and a current map of Muslim communities in the country.
