Rowing in sports Sinop from past to present

The aim of this study is to draw attention to Rowing by clarifying the historical process of Rowing in Sinop and to shed light on the future of Rowing in Sinop. When the historical process of the city of Sinop is examined, the interest of the people of Sinop in Water Sports and sporting activities attracts attention. Being a natural port, having forests consisting of trees suitable for shipbuilding, as well as the interest of the local people in maritime and the geographical characteristics of the city, it has served as the shipyard city of the State for years for the Seljuks, Pervaneoğulları, Candaroğulları, Ottomans and the first years of the Republican Era. It reflects 's interest in maritime. As a result of the archive scanning, the news about the Rowing Races in the Sinop Newspapers of 1936, 1940, 1941, 1942 and 1993, the memories of the Races as a result of the interviews with the people of Sinop, and the photo taken with the Olympic Boat for the Cabotage Festival in 1965, were obtained from the research. All information and documents have revealed that Rowing has a wide culture in Sinop. As a result, in the study, it was seen that the history of rowing sports dates back to the history of Sinop Province. In Sinop, which served as a shipyard for all civilizations established in the Black Sea Region and its surroundings, it has been observed that with the development of technology, rowing sport has ceased to be a profession and turned into recreational use. It was determined that the foundations of sportive use were laid with the modern Rowing boats sent after the Cabotage Day declaration, and the transformation into Clubs that continue their training within the current Rowing Federation was achieved with the Black Sea Cup Rowing Races in 2011. As of 2023, the Rowing Sports Culture continues its life with approximately one hundred licensed and unlicensed athletes within the Rowing Clubs.
