Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relations between music and human have been examined from the time when humanbeings first set foot on the world to the present day. By explaining the structural features of Turkish Music makams, comprehensive information and case studies about the effects of makams on human health and psyche are presented. Music, which expresses the harmonious formation of rhythm and melody, is the art of expressing emotions and thoughts that people cannot express with words with melody. Turkish Music, which expresses an understanding of the art of a tremendous history with its repertoire, instruments and melodic features, has shown a parallel development with the power of the Ottoman Empire. Turkish Music of Pre-Islamic Asian origin, which has five sound characteristics, has changed under the influence of the Islamic religion after Islam, eight sounds have started to be used on one scale. Turkish Music which has Informative and didactic values; was used in cases such as patient cure, increasing religious and national feelings, raising the morale and motivation of the soldier, preserving and continuing customs and traditions, keeping sagas alive during the Ottoman and Seljuk Periods. Important people such as El-Kindi, Farabi, Avicenna, Mevlanâ, Shuuri Hasan Efendi, Hekimbasi Gevrekzade Hasan Efendi, Haci Hashim Bey during the Islamic Civilization, Seljuk and Ottoman Empire Periods have researched the effects of Turkish musical authorities on human health and psyche. Both in the Turkish Islamic Civilization and in the Seljuk and Ottoman Periods, many hospital were established that treated patients with music. Music Therapy refers to the use of music to heal patients with education, social, medical and psychological needs. In ancient Turks, Shamans were the first spiritual physician models in history and cured people with music and dance. After the Turks accepted Islam, Sufis who are members of the Sufi ecole engaged in music and believed that music saved people from diseases of the soul and contributed to the maturation of people. At the end of the study, conclusions were reached regarding the structure and progression characteristics of the makams and the use of music in treatment.
