SUMMARYMasters ThesisTurk - Georgian Relations in History and at PresentKamil Murat UŞUNThe University of FıratThe Institute of Social ScienceThe Department of HistoryElazığ- 2006, p : XII + 149Caucasus, by its location, is on the area of approach of the nations which wish to expandtheir teritory. Thus Caucasus happened to be an area of operation which nations wished tocapture and control. Turks met Georgians when Seljuks headed for Caucasus in search ofalternative residence in the first half of the 11 century. Later Caucasus occupied byHarzemshahs, Mongolians, Ottomans, Iranians. Russians took Caucasus into consideration inthe second half of XV century.Oil contributed to the value of region extremely by the 19 century. The need of flawlessflow of oil also brought South Caucasus on the international agenda by its oil pipelines in thenear term. After the fall of Soviet Union, Turkey paid attention to Georgia as well as newfounded Turk Republics and brought the issue of the importance of Georgia in Caucasus tointernetional arena.After the September 11th terorist incidents, the possible existance of terorists on theuncontrolled part of devoloping Georgia, attracted international attention to country. The keyplayer in the war against terorism, USA, in the search of ground at Euraisa within the GreaterMiddle East Initiative, when got closer to Georgia, noticed the balance of geopolitics ofCaucasus, gave importence and replied to close cooperation and willing attitude of Georgia.The attitude of the Empire to extend by different reasons, turned Caucasus into an area ofoperation. The great games of empires renewed and ongoing although this stiation causes theresources of the region wasted.Key Words: Caucasus, Georgian, Anti-terorism, Oil, Pipelines, Ahiska, Great Game.
