Abstract (EN)

Drought is the decrease in water resources for a certain period and it has become one of the most costly natural disasters with the effect of industrialization, rapid population growth and climate change in recent years. There are 4 types of drought in general; meteorological, agricultural, hydrological and socioeconomic drought. Drought adversely affects agriculture, precipitation, water levels of groundwater, lakes and rivers, hydropower production, soil moisture, flood and drought severity and frequency. For this reason, research on drought has increased in recent years, and regions affected by drought have been tried to be determined. In this study, which aims to determine the dry and humid periods of the basin with various drought indices and to determine the trend characteristics of precipitation and temperature values with various statistical methods by using the precipitation, temperature and relative humidity data of the last 45 years in the Gediz Basin; In the first part, a general information and literature summary about drought is given, in the second part the indices and statistical methods used in drought analysis are introduced, the study area and the data used in the study are introduced in the third part, the research findings are presented in the fourth part, and in the fifth and the last part, the obtained results are examined. İn conclusion, the dry and humid periods of the basin were determined according to various indices and scales, and the trends of temperature and precipitation data were determined. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature in terms of examining the Gediz Basin with various drought indices and determining the precipitation and temperature trends.
