Abstract (EN)

Architectural spaces are changing and developing in parallel with socio-economic, cultural and technological developments. Shopping places are also affected by these developments and show different characteristics in every period. The process, which started with agoras in the ancient times, experienced a major break especially with the Industrial Revolution. The emerging understanding of globalization and capitalism has directly affected shopping places. As a result of these developments, the shopping center typology emerged in the 20th century. Since its emergence, it has attracted great attention and spread rapidly all over the world. In the 21st century, shopping centers cannot meet user expectations. New trends and concept searches come to the fore in shopping center design. In the 21st century, society, culture and technology are changing rapidly. Today's society is evolving into a network society, popular culture into digital culture. The biggest change is achieved by technological revolutions in the field of digitalization and artificial intelligence. In this study, a prediction model for the shopping mall design of the future was created. The aims of the study; to produce scenarios about how the shopping space of the future will be, to determine the parameters of the human-oriented shopping space, to determine the expectations and predictions of future consumers, and to predict the possible effects of increasing digitalization on the space. In this context, a pilot study was conducted with the subject group receiving architectural education. During the idea generation stage, 20 movies of the science-fiction genre, which contain predictions and images according to the people of the future, their culture, shopping places and action models, were used. As a result of the study, it was foreseen that the shopping center will continue as a physical space in the future, but will transform into a 'hybrid shopping center' model with the effect of e-commerce and digitalization. The negativities of digitalization on people and society were mentioned and the importance of human-oriented shopping center design was emphasized.
