Using virtual reality and augemented reality as an example of future journalism

Abstract (EN)

Journalism applications have started to change with the development of technology. As a result of the change in the profession of journalism and the way of news production, different journalism practices began to be experienced. VR and AR Journalism, one of the most common practices of the last few years, have emerged as a result of the changing journalism and news publication. In this study, the effects of VR and AR journalism, which is spreading all over the world, on journalism are tried to be predicted through semi-structured interviews with 20 people who represent generation Z as future news consumers. AR, VR and T.V. News format were created in three different formats, each last 3 minutes and the impact power of the news videos was measured without informing the interviewees about which category the videos belong to. However, during the interviews, the most remarkable answers related to the subject were analyzed. As a result of the study, the findings revealed that VR and AR applications of Z generation individuals who are the future news consumers of normal T.V. news videos found more impressive and realistic. In light of this data, it has been proved that future of Turkey's media would be promising and gain attention of gen Z on condition that journalistic practices are applied.
