Abstract (EN)

Qanun is an istrument which is performed by many people living in the Middle East. Different types of music gennes have emerged due to the tradition of every nations and different living styles form nation to nation, region to region, period to period and even (due to) the changing cultural policies of states. In this view, when we look at qanun instrument, in spite of various narratives about who was invented qanun, there is a non-negligible fact that qanun is changed in terms of structure and performance and adapted by nations in time. What is important in this point is to reveal the differences that emerge in terms of attitude and style. It can be called as riot of colors in the Middle East geography where music gains meaning with it's different colors, it is discussed differences of qanun in terms of structure and performance in Turkey and Armenia. In this thesis, it is included that changing and transformation of the Armenian music during Tsarist Russia and Union of Soviet Socialist Republies period. As a result of this evdudion, differences between developing style of qanun in today's independent Armenia and (style of qanun) in Turkey is examined and revealed. The process that starf by attaching fouth string to three-stringed violin by Saşa Ogenazaşvili and works of adapting the Armenian folk music to the tampere system contiued with Vartan Bun's transforming of folk music groups of 3-5 people into a symphony orchestrsa consisted of 20-30 people of Western music style, and Arşavir Ferculyan's works of adapting qanun to the tampere system. Finally, Haçatur Avetisyan's efforts to institutionalize qanun education in Armenian music, and the foundations of today's qanun style were laid in Armenia as a result of the ongoing process dismantling the pegs which give coma sounds in the qanun instrument. Haçatur Avestiyan is the only ecole of playing qanun tradition in today's Armenia.
