Abstract (EN)
In today's conditions where environmental and energy problems increase and increase, building designs that consume a significant amount of energy and cause environmental problems are looking for ways to use energy effectively and to create sustainable environments. Approaches such as the protection of the natural environment, minimization of consumption, and climate-based practices have been applied for thousands of years on the basis of primitive and traditional living and design criteria. For centuries, local architectural practices built with traditional construction techniques using local and natural materials have provided solutions that are environmentally sensitive and that use energy efficiently. Traditional buildings, which minimize energy expenditure in different climatic zones, provide important data in terms of efficient use of energy to modern buildings by transferring many information obtained through years of experience with design approaches. Anatolia, which has been a residential area since ancient times, has many traditional structures designed in line with environmental factors. Turkey's place in the field of environmental and climatic conditions where traditional houses in various geographies revealed a unique architectural design with the most appropriate example.In this context, it is aimed to investigate energy efficient behaviors of traditional houses. For this purpose, it is aimed to examine the structural characteristics and energy efficiency of the historical houses in Sille, which is one of the central districts of Konya, which has been home to different civilizations for centuries. Within the scope of the thesis, energy problems are focused on as the starting point of the thesis and information about the purpose of the thesis is presented. In the second chapter, the relationship between energy efficient design and climatic design and sustainable design is examined. In the third part, energy efficient design parameters; user-related parameters, external environment parameters and building-related parameters are examined under three main headings: In the fourth chapter, Turkey's climatic zones and through energy efficient design of traditional houses in Turkey have been described and illustrated the changes it has undergone traditional housing. Anatolia has many traditional structures designed with environmental factors in mind. In the fifth chapter, in Sille, where the study is concentrated; In addition to the environmental factors of the region, the general architecture of the traditional houses and the principles of energy efficient design are examined in detail. In the sixth section, the selected buildings in the study area are discussed and the assumptions regarding the data and ambient conditions to be used with the Building Energy Performance Software (BEPTR) program are defined and the annual heating and cooling loads of 3 traditional houses selected in the region are calculated. The tables and graphics were created by comparing the data obtained as a result of the calculation operations in the program supported by drawings and 3D modeling. Assumptions for each house and data entered into the program and drawings of the houses are presented in the annexes. The factors that change the annual energy consumption of traditional houses are evaluated with the tables and graphs. In the seventh section, the results are explained and the evaluations are made. As a result of this study, the annual energy consumption amounts and energy classes of the traditional buildings with the same climate and geometry in Sille region showed similar results. Considering the difference in the energy consumption values between the mechanical systems in the period when the traditional houses were built and the mechanical systems in today's buildings, the energy consumption value and class being close to the reference building shows that there is an effort to use energy efficiently in the construction and use of traditional houses. In this respect, it has been explained that traditional houses provide important data that can guide the architects and the importance of effective use of the energy accessed is explained.
