Abstract (EN)

Rail transportation systems are safe, high passenger carrying capacity, comfortable and fast systems. Rail systems, which are of great importance due to these features, are also the most preferred in urban transportation. As a result of the high demands in this trend, the number of urban rail transportation system projects is increasing. In the content of the thesis, it has been evaluated in terms of technological, economic, environmental effects and service delivery according to the demands on rail transportation systems. The characteristics of the most preferred tram system in urban rail systems were determined. In our country, the rubber-wheeled tram (Translohr) system has been researched for regions where a tram transportation system is needed in urban transportation, but where it is not possible to apply the maximum slope and minimum curve turning radius of the rail systems. Considering the differences of this system from the existing tram system, the conditions for its application to Erzincan have been revealed. As a result, sufficient capacity could not be found for the construction of trams in Erzincan province. When Erzincan reaches sufficient passenger capacity, the construction of the translohr system will be more economical and usable.
