Abstract (EN)
Traditional Turkish houses are the most important cultural structures encountered since Turks set foot in Anatolia. Texture, mark, rhythm and dynamism formed by the construction materials such as adobe and stone used in traditional Turkish houses, as well as the warmth arisen as a result of being lived-in are the main reasons behind the interest in "Interpretation of Traditional Turkish Architecture and Urban Fabric in Plastic Language". In this research, the subject of "Interpretation of Traditional Turkish Architecture and Urban Fabric in Plastic Language" is examined and its conceptual framework is formed with literature review. In the study, the aim is the creation of paintings on urban fabric and their analysis. This thesis, which deals with city view within the art of painting, consists of two chapters and a conclusion section. In the first section of the thesis, in which conceptual framework and theoretical researches are included, deals with "Traditional Architecture", "City Architecture", "Traditional Turkish Architecture Theme in Pre-1940 Turkish Painting" and "Those Utilizing Turkish Architecture and Urban Fabric in Post-1940 Turkish Painting" topics. In the second part, in which the analysis of the paintings from plastic perspective is made, general explanations about the paintings are given and the applications and analyses of paintings are included and details from architectural structures are presented. In this process, a total of 25 practice studies have been performed. A separate analysis for each study from plastic perspective was performed. In painting studies, at first single traditional architectural structures, then crowded city views were portrayed, afterwards an interest in slope houses arose. It is known that slope houses are a healthier residential area as a settlement center. It has been concluded that; they possess a rich image plastically by having a pictorially colorful image on the slopes of mountains and becoming a space with the combination of textures on the surfaces of houses. In the paintings where acrylic paint is used, freedom is prioritised. Initially, studies were being done by using texture and smooth surface together, afterwards it was thought that the texture spreading to the whole surface would be a more accentuating method. In the practice studies, a new dynamism has been brought to the paintings with the roof form on the structures. Key words:Traditional Turkish Architecture, Slope Houses, Object, Painting, Image.
