Abstract (EN)

New product design and technology transfer is a multidimensional process that is costly, time-consuming and has many stakeholders. This process, which involves radical benefits as well as risks, should be addressed in a multidisciplinary approach. The process of product design and technology transfer should be used all inputs and resources, especially information and technology, in the most efficient way. Also should be a customized system that can be dynamic and updated to provide the greatest benefit. Ordinary new product design and technology transfer models are industry independent and recommeding general steps, they are not considering the resources as well. It is aimed to determine the current situation with a moving survey and to propose a suitable model. In view of the institutional considerations of emerging country firms, the new product design and technology transfer methods generally are not feasible, as knowledge, technology, intellectual capacity and material resources are limited and the food sector in developing countries has different priorities than the developed countries. Since the innovation is the key to competition for all developing and less developed countries and sectors, supplier driven innovation which refers to suppliers -who are mainly multinational companies and the main providers of knowledge- has been included in the study beside the four main types of innovation - product, process, organization and market innovation - in order to be associated with targets and strategies. Consequently, at the end of the study, three main processes were proposed for the developing or less developed countries in the light of the data obtained from the questionnaires also considering the institutional structures of the firms: Uncoordinated, Segmental and Systematic. Regarding these processes; a seven-step new product design and technology transfer model has been proposed, including the identification of targets, requirements, appropriate types of innovation, technology acquisition, technology transfer, supplier involvement in the business process, and actors driving technology transfer.
