Özet (EN)

ABSTRACT The primary goal of this study is to analyze labor market dynamics in both developed and developing countries using a search and matching model. To estimate the duration dependence parameter and matching function for both types of countries, we employed panel data and OLS techniques. For developed countries, the duration dependence results show that the coefficient for unemployment duration is negative and statistically significant. Additionally, the matching function results indicate that the job vacancy rate coefficient is positive but not statistically significant, while the unemployment rate coefficient is negative and highly significant. The matching function outcomes suggest that in Turkey and China, unemployment coefficients are negative and not statistically significant. However, job vacancies positively influence matches and are statistically significant. In Chile, the unemployment coefficient is positive and statistically significant. Although the job vacancy rate also has a positive effect, this effect was not statistically confirmed. For Costa Rica, the unemployment coefficient is positive but not significant, while the job vacancy rate coefficient is positive and statistically significant. In Korea, both the unemployment and job vacancy rate coefficients are positive and statistically significant. These findings enhance understanding of the resilience and transitions of the labor market before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. They offer valuable insights for policymakers on designing labor market recovery strategies that address vacancies, unemployment durations, and employment transitions. Keywords: Search and matching theory, Job finding rate, Labor market flows, Covid-19 crisis, Developed and developing countries.
