Abstract (EN)
With the increasing population in the world and in our country, the need for agricultural products is also increasing, and the importance of the agricultural sector, which is a prerequisite for economic and even socio-cultural development, comes to the fore day by day. The limited production areas, the many problems that require investment in the areas that are currently idle and considered to be opened for agricultural production, and the inability to protect the existing production areas due to ecological, economic and social pressures will face the problem of not producing enough food in the near future. The solution to this problem is the management of agricultural areas with the balance of protection and use, in other words, their sustainable use. In order for agricultural lands to be used sustainably, the characteristics of the lands and soils should be determined, classified, mapped and used in accordance with their capabilities. This thesis work; It was carried out on the Gembos Plain, which is one of the rarest agricultural plains of our country, where many agricultural products can be grown, and where land consolidation works are also continuing. The aim of the study is to plan the sustainable agricultural use of the Gembos Plain. In this context, the study was carried out in the field, laboratory and office stages. These stages were carried out in four basic steps. These; 1. The land and soil characteristics of the Gembos plain were determined, 2. The land and soils were classified according to their characteristics, 3. The land and soils were mapped with the help of geographic information systems, and 4. Comments and recommendations were made regarding the use of the land and soils.
