Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT The unavoidable use stainless steels for chemical tankers transmit the electricity well, but they do not transmit as well the heat; therefore some problems in welding of stainless steels occur. Using stainless steel materials for the building of ships, the welding of each other of two different kinds of material, stainless steel and shipbuilding steel, are here in quest. In that case, the welding method applied to welding points on places where stainless steel is used, must so be chosen that it is economical and that healthy results can be taken. The welding points met during the building of ship in blocks has been determined, the best weld method practising to these points has been chosen and experiments using this method are done. As experiment materials; with 6 and 10 mm wall thickness AISI 304 stainless steel; for the shipbuilding steel, with 10 mm wall thickness A516 Gr70 and for carbon steel pipe, with 6 mm wall thickness A106 Gr-B are taken. SAW, FCAW, SMAW and TIG welding methods have been applied to the experiments and mechanical tests to the welding stitches are also done. The results of the experiments are shown in form of a report. The most economical and the most suitable method that will be applied to the fixed welding points of a ship taken as a result of the obtained conclusions has been determined.
