Özet (EN)
It is very important that restorative materials have similar properties with dental hard tissues, long-term survival in the mouth and satisfying esthetics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical success of high viscosity glass ionomer (Equia Fil), composite resin (Filtek Z250) placed on the Class I cavities of young permanent teeth and various glass-ionomer containing restorative materials (Fujı IX GP, Ketac Molar Quick Aplicap) and compomer (F2000) with/without surface coat application (G Coat Plus) on Class II cavities of primary teeth comparatively according to USPHS criteria. 194 teeth of 82 child patients between the ages 6-14 referred to clinics were included in this study. Equia Fil (GC), G Coat Plus applied/non-applied Fuji IX GP (GC) and Ketac Molar Quick Aplicap (3M ESPE), F2000 (3M ESPE) were applied to Class II cavities of 138 primary molar teeth. Equia Fil (GC), Filtek Z 250 (3M ESPE) restorative materials were applied on Class I cavities of 56 young permanent teeth. The restorations were evaluated for 18 months according to modified USPHS criteria. Conclusion of the study, statistically significant difference between G-Coat non-applied Ketac Molar Quick Aplicap restorations in 18 month when compared with other time periods was found statistically significant regarding "retention" parameters and also, difference was found between G-Coat Plus non-applied Ketac Molar Quick Aplicap and F2000 restorative material during dichotomous comparison (p<0.05). In young permanent teeth, the difference between 18 month follow up of Filtek Z250 with other time periods regarding "marginal discoloration" parameter was found statistically significant (p<0.05). As a result, Equia Fil was found as successful in Class I cavities of young permanent teeth and Class II cavities of primary teeth. Therefore, it could be advised to apply a surface coating agent when conventional glass ionomer cements are applied on Class II cavities of primary teeth.
