Abstract (EN)
The studies aim is to compare the act of social media and Facebook usage between Germany and Turkey. The study using the structured online interview methodology, deals with the differences and similarities of social media usage by people at the age of fifteen to twenty-four. As such one of the most popular social networking websites, which is Facebook, has been examined. The findings showed that the Facebook usage between German and Turkish people is largely similar, but the Turkish youth's approach to the social media phenomenon is much more careful compared to the German youth. In this sense it has been observed that the German youth exhibits a much more independent and free attitude on Facebook whereas the Turkish youth is much more hesitant and carries various fears and concerns in terms of sharing certain contents.
