Examination of strategic management practices and decision-making styles of youth services and sport provincial and district directors

Aim: The purpose of this research is to determine the individual strategic and managerial strategies and decision making styles of the provincial and district directors working in the provincial directorate of youth services and sports according to their demographic features. Material and Methods: The population of this study consists of Provincial-District Directors working in 'Provincial Directorats of Youth Services and Sports' while the sample group consists of 228 staff members. In this study, managerial strategy scale developed by Şeker were used to determine the strategic management practice of the applicants. 'Individual Management Strategies Scale' was used to determine the individual management strategies. 'Decision Making Strategies Scale" developed by Scott and Bruce and adapted to Turkish by Tașdelen was also used to determine the decision styles of applicants. Mann Whitney U test was used to research of the managerial strategy, individual management strategy and decision making styles according to their requency analysis, gender, marital status, graduated department and positions of applicants to determine demographic characteristics of them. Kruskal Wallis test were used in the comparison of managerial strategy, individual management strategies and decision making styles according to their age, education, income, working hours and work experience. In addition, SPSS 24.0 packet statistics program was used to analyze the obtained data and the level of significance was taken as p <0.05. Results: In this research, significant differences (p <0.05) were found between the income levels in the rational and intuitive sub-dimensions of the managerial strategies and decision making subscales. Whereas there are positive and significant (p <0.01) relationship between the individual strategies, the managerial strategy, rational, intuitive and dependent decision making sub-dimensions, positive and significant (p <0.01) relationship between the avoidance and intuitive and dependent variables, positive and significant (p <0.01) relationship between avoidance and instant and dependent, there is negative and significant (p <0.05) relationship between individual management and instant decision making. Conclusion: According to the income situation of the participants; whereas there are no significant differences in dependent, avoidance and instant dimensions of individual strategies and decision-making sub-dimensions; there are significant differences in the rational and intuitive sub-dimensions of managerial strategies and decision making style sub-dimensions (p>005).
