Determination of the in-service training needs of sporting education experts in the Youth and Sport Ministry

ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF THE IN-SERVICE TRAINING NEEDS OF SPORTING EDUCATION EXPERTS IN THE YOUTH AND SPORT MINISTRY This study aimed to determine the in-service training needs of Sportif Education Experts working in Provincial Directorates of Youth Services and Sports under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It has been tried to see whether the in-service training needs of sporting education specialists differ in terms of some variables. The study consists of about 1200 Sporting Education experts working in the Ministry of Youth and Sports and their sample; It constitutes 309 sports education specialists working in Youth Services and Sports Provincial Directorates. In-service training needs scale developed by Demirtaş (2008) was used as data collection tool in the research. The questionnaire consists of three parts. Demographic information in part 1 of the scale, questions on in-service training in part 2, questions about the determination of professional skills are included. The in-service training needs scale consists of 5 items. The data obtained from the scale were evaluated with SPSS statistical package program and the obtained data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, t test in binary comparisons and ANOVA test in multiple comparisons. Significance level was taken as p <0.05. Of the individuals participating in the study, 77.3% were male experts and 68.6% were between 30-39 years of age. It is also seen that 74.4% of the experts in the study have a service life of 0-5 years and they are willing to participate in in-service training as high as 95.8%. As a result; it has been found that the sporting education specialists participating in the study are willing to participate in the courses, the female specialists are more willing to general education and vocational training and the experts with a service period of 0-5 years are more willing to participate in education and in-service training.
