Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the perceptions related to the jobsatiafaction of the principals and teachers working in High Schools, Anatolian HighSchools and Science Schools and to identify whether there was a meaningfulstatistical difference between them. Furthermore, how principals? and teachers? jobsatisfaction differed due to gender, age, length of service, educational degree, branchand location was also investigated.62 principals and 393 teachers working in 25 schools (High Schools,Anatolian High Schools and Science Schools) which were located in Zonguldakparticipated in this research in 2004-2005 school year. To obtain data, JobSatisfaction Scale was applied to the principals and teachers and their perceptionswere evaluated. For the statiatical analysis of the data; frequency and percentage,mean, standart deviation, t-test, Mann Whitney U test, one way variance analysis andScheffe test were used.According to the results of this study, it is revealed that principals andteachers satisfied their lower needs at the middle level and there is no motivationrelated to satisfaction of upper needs. Moreover, it was observed that there was nomeaningful difference in principals? level of job satisfaction due to gender, agelength of service, educational degree, branch and location of the school. It wasrevealed that male teachers were more satisfied than females; the level of jobsatisfaction increased due to age and length of service. Teachers with lowereducational degree were more satisfied than others; there wasn?t a meaningfuldifference in the level of job satisfaction according to the branch of the teachers.Teachers who were working in rural areas had higher level of job satisfaction thanthe ones working in cities.t is hoped that the findings of this research will contribute to gain data forthe applications aimed at increasing the quality in the field of education and willalso contribute to the the further researches of job satisfactionKey Words: Job Satisfaction, Motivation, Employee
