Approaches of students from high school and religious oriented high

Popular music has been handled as the most impressive reflection of popular culture that diverged from its meaning of public culture and diversified in terms of qualitative faetures following industrial revulotion. Popular music is not meant the determination and examination of certain music types, but studied as an altering culturel appearance that took its shape within chancing culturel process. The purpose of this study is aimed at measuring the approach of both, students from high schools and students from religious oriented schools towards popular music. It will be tried to find out whether there is any differenece between these two type of students in their appoach towards popular music. In line with this purpose, a questionnaire believed to determine approaches toward popular music was prepared. First it was aimed to establish conseptual ground regarding listening to music. What are student?s habit in music and what kind of music do they listen to? The remainder of questionnaire includes judgements. Expressions in questionnaire have been determined in compliance with purpose below; a) What are their approaches to music in tens of culturel facts? b) What are their opinions about the impact of music on human? c) What is the meaning of music in individual?s life? d) What are their opinions concerning music types? e) Do they show any sensitivity when listening to music? f) What is the situation of students involved concerning their participation in the questionnaire ? Outcome obtained from these two varying oriented students will be compared thereby reaching a conclusion as to whether tehere is any difference in their approach to music? The questionnaire was conducted in ?stanbul?s Eyüp district with the help of three high school and religious school. Analyzing tests were carried out in order to asses tne outcome of questionnaire. It was seen that students have strong inclination to listen to music. Individual?s phsciological condition and their feeling at time play the most crucial role. These two tpye students differ in their approach to music especially in tems of cultur and its impact on human. Also the importance these two groups students attribute to music in their life is different. There is no obvious difference in their opinions related to music types listened. Students from religious oriented high schools constitute the majority among those who have religious sensitivity when listening to music.
