Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT CONSTRUCTION OF COHERENT STATES FOR GENERALIZED MORSE POTENTIAL Mustafa DERNEK M.Sc in Physics Adviser: Prof. Dr. Nuri ÜNAL 2002, 30 Pages In this study, the wave function and energy spectrum are obtained for the generalized Morse potential by using Feynman path integral method. It is seen that our results are in agreement with results obtained from Schrödinger equation and the group theory techniques. The dynamic symetry of the problem has been used to obtain the propagator. Thus the problem has been converted to a free particle problem on the surface of a four-dimensional hyperboloid. The rigid rotator offers a good approach to describe the motion of diatomic molecules, hence the particles motion constrained on the surface of the four-dimensional sphere, are transformed to hyperbolic solutions. Furtheimore, it has been shown that in the limiting case, the wave functions of the generalized Morse potential could be reduced to those given for the Morse potential.
