A model proposal for selecting the structural system used to cover wide spans

In this study, the problems of the selection of structural systems are handled and the structural systems covering the wide openings were examined. In the light of the information obtained, the criteria for the selection of the structural system were established and the systems were evaluated according to these criteria. In this context, the criteria were divided into two main groups giving values related to usage and cost. The options were evaluated by the intermittent scale method. Product selection methods for selection and decision process were examined and a method was constructed by using Balanlı's method with in the scope of operations research. In this study, numerical evaluation of each system has been made and all of these values have been recorded in a computer program. All the options are evaluated together with the applied method and the selection process is made according to these values. At the end of the thesis study, it is aimed to prevent the losses such as wasting time and loss of material as well as waste of performance by wrong system choices.
