Abstract (EN)

Spillways are hydraulic structures that have an important place in water structures and have important functions in flood situations. When the studies are examined, there are many studies on classical (with sharp edges, wide head) and labyrinth weirs placed on open channels. Piano Key Weirs (PKW), which is a new and current type of weir in the literature, has been studied within the scope of this thesis. Piano key weirs are the improved and modified version of labyrinth type weirs. In this study, the effect of changing different geometric parameters on the discharge efficiency for D type PKW in the literature was investigated. For this, ANSYS-Fluent worked with the program that, a computational fluid dynamics (HAD) software, performs a series of numerical analyses on weir height (P), weir width (L), Entry/Exit key width (Wi/Wo), Entry/Exit key slopes (Si/So) parameters. In the scope of the thesis, using the values of P=150 and 200 mm, PK=Wi/Wo=1.00, 1.25, 1.50, and L= 200, 300,400 mm dimensions, the comparisons were made between the variations in weir height, channel width and key widths of different PKW models and between the sharp-edged weirs having same weir height. As a result of the analyses, the water surface profiles of the streams were read using the Fluid Volumes Method (VOF), and it was found that the most efficient sluice model belongs to Model 12.
