Özet (EN)

This study is designed in order to determine the effects of 'Realistic Mathematics Education Method' on the mathematical attitudes and success of sixth grade students. It is designed by using 'Quantitative Model'. In this process, pre-test, post-test and attitude scale was carried out to students. This study has been conducted in a village school in Adıyaman,Southeastern Region of Anatolia within students in 6/A and 6/B classes in second term of 2015-2016 Education Year. In research, control and sample groups was consisted of 39 students that have similar academic success and whose gender have been dispersed homogeneously. Control and sample groups of this study was comprised of students in 6-A and 6-B whose math marks are close to each other at the end of the first term of 2015-2016 Education Year. In practice process, the topic of 'Volume Measurement and Liquid Measurement Units' was taught by Realistic Mathematics Education Method, while it was taught by current method in the control group according to the mathematics course book of 2015-2016 Education Year. The courses of sample and control groups was taught by researcher. The data has been collected by using 'Mathematics Achievement Test', 'Mathematics Attitude Scale'. 'Mathematics Achievement Test' and 'Mathematics Attitude Scale' have been applied to both sample and control groups as pre-test, post-test and permanence test. 'Single Factor Covariance Analysis' has been carried outin order to find out whether it has any statistical effects on the points of 'Mathematics Achievement Test' and 'Mathematics Attitude Test' before and after the experiment. SPSS 22.0 has been used in the analysis of the quantitative data. In all statistical analysis significance level criteria have been set to 0.01. At the end of the research, it has been seen that Realistic Mathematics Education Method has increased the achievement of sample group students' success, but it isn't effect the attitude and permanence of students' in teaching the topic 'Volume Measurement and Liquid Measurement Units'. Key Words: Realistic mathematics education (RME), volumetric analysis, liquid measuring units, mathematics success, mathematics teaching.
