The effect of psychoeducational program based on reality approach on locus of control and resilience of high school students

The purpose of this study is to examine the Effect of the students of PsychoEducational Program, Relying on the Theory of Realty, with regard to the ResilienceLevel and Locus of Control. The implementation of the study has been carried out on the 10th and the 11th grades of high school students at Recep Gungor High School, located in Buyukcekmece, a county of Istanbul during the 2009-2010 academic year. The study group was consisted of 60 students, of them 35 were boys and 25 girls.The Resilience Scale has been used for measuring the Resilience level of the high school students in the scope of the study, and Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale has been used for measuring the supervision focus.The study way carried out by using an experimental method, is consisted of four study groups. Of the four groups, two were the experimental groups in wich Psycho-Educational Program based on the theory of Reality wasimplemented. Placebo group was in the form Ancounter group. No procedure was done in the control group.In the data analysis, the analyses of Wilcoxon test, Man Whitney-U test, and the Kruskall Wallis have been carried out to determine whether they demonstrated significant differences with regard to the levels of Resilience level of the high school students of the Psycho-Educational Program Based on The Theory of Reality and in their locus of control levels.After the implementation of the psycho-education, it was observed that the level of resilience (measured by the Resilience Scale) of the two experimental groups increased as compared to that of the placebo and the control groups.
