Abstract (EN)
The relations between cinema and other arts have been the subject of many scientific researches. In addition to the relations between cinema and other arts, there is a deep-rooted relationship between literature and cinema, and this relationship is mainly examined through the interactivity between novel/prose and cinema. Together with the studies upon the relationship between prose and cinema, researches that deal with the relationship between poetry and cinema also take part in the literature. However, it has been observed that there are few studies on the relationship between modern poetry and image, which is one of the basic and most important elements of modern poetry, and cinema. Accordingly, this study examines the relationship between surrealist poetry, the most powerful reflection of modern poetry in the 20th century, and cinema through the concept of image. In this context, René Clair's Entr'acte (1924) and Man Ray's L'étoile de mer (1928) are selected as examples in which the aforementioned relationship has appeared first, while Luis Bunuel's Un chien andalou (1929) is selected as the first significant example of the interactivity between surreal poetry and cinema, and all three films are analyzed through descriptive analysis model within the scope of qualitative research. Key Words: Surrealist Poetry, Surrealist Cinema, Image, René Clair, Man Ray, Luis Bunuel
