Abstract (EN)

Hipfracturesareincreasing in thegeriatricpatients.Theneedforpostoperativeintensivecarealso is increasing. Inourstudy, weaimedtoexaminetheeffect of anesthesiamethodinhipfracturesurgery, on theduration of stay in theintensivecareunit, morbidityandmortality. 198 patientsover 65 years of agewith ASA III andaboveduetohipfracturewereanalyzedretrospectively. Demographic data, comorbidities, somebiochemicalparameters, transfusionamounts, ICU stay, APACHE scores, mortality, morbidityandcomplications of thepatients in thegroupwereevaluatedretrospectively as general andregionalanesthesiagroups. When general andregionalanesthesiawerecompared, APACHE scoresandintraoperativetransfusionamountwerefoundto be significantlyhigher in thegroupreceiving general anesthesia. Postoperativemechanicalventilatorduration, 8-28 daysmortality, cardiovascularsystemandinfectioncomplicationswerefoundto be significantlylower in theregionalanesthesiagroup (p<0,05). Theanesthesiamethodto be chosen in geriatricfemurfractures is stillunderdiscussion. Regionalanesthesiaseemsto be advantageous in reducingintraoperativetransfusions, loweringthepost-op APACHE score, reducingtheduration of mechanicalventilation, reducingmortalityandcomplications. Although itwasstatedthatregionalanesthesiawaspreferred in ourstudy, thesmallnumber of patients,theretrospectivenature of theexamination can belisted as thereasonsthat limit theinterpretation of mortalityandotherresults.
