Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between cognitive functions, anthropometric measurement, physical performance, fraility, muscle strength and mobility in geriatric individuals. Our study was carried out in Private 100. Yıl Hospital. The sample of the study consists of 50 individuals aged 65 and over, 33 female and 17 male. Demographic information and anthropometric measurements of the individuals were recorded. Mini Mental Test (MMSE) was used to evaluate cognitive functions. Hand grip strength was measured for muscle strength. Physical performance evaluation was made using the Short Physical Performance Battery. Frail scale was used to evaluate fraility. Mobility was assessed with the timed get up and go test and gait speed. The median age of the individuals included in the study was 69 years (min: 65, max: 82). A weak and positive correlation was found between cognitive function and gait speed (r=0.377, p<0.05). A weak and positive correlation was found between cognitive function and frail scale (r=0.428, p<0.05). A weak and positive correlation was found between cognitive function and grip strength (r=0.352, p<0.05). No correlation was found between cognitive functions and anthropometric measurement, charlson comorbidity index, short physical performance battery, timed up and go test. In conclusion, in our study, it was observed that cognitive functions were associated with gait speed, grip strength and fragility in geriatric individuals aged 65 and over. When evaluating the motor functions of geriatric individuals, it is important to evaluate cognitive functions in detail.
