The effect of fascial distortion model on pain intensity, cervical posture and joint position sense in patientswith tension type headache

This study was planned to investigate the effect of fascial distortion model on pain severity, cervical posture and joint position sense in patients with tension headache. Individuals with tension-type headache were divided into control (n=15) and study group (n=15) by simple random method. Fascial distortion modeling was applied to the study group for a total of 4 weeks, one session a week for 30 minutes. No application was made to the control group. Evaluations were made for all individuals twice, at baseline and after 4 weeks. Pain severity of individuals was evaluated with VAS and McGill Pain Scale, craniovertebral angle and shoulder position for cervical posture with Posturescreen Mobile application, joint position sense with laser cursor assisted angle repetition test. Considering the findings obtained from the study, it was determined that the application of the fascial distortion model decreased the severity of pain and improved the sense of cervical posture and joint position (p<0.05). No significant difference was observed between the first and last evaluation in the control group (p>0.05). The fascial distortion model can be used as a different treatment option to reduce pain in individuals with tension-type headache, correct cervical posture, and improve cervical joint position sense. It has been shown in this study that the method can be used not only for relieving pain and regaining normal range of motion, but also for different purposes such as proprioception or posture correction. The technique will provide an advantage to physiotherapists in terms of the effective use of time. Key words: Pain intensity, Fascial distortion model, Tension-type headache, Posture, Proprioception
