Development of the perception of self-efficacy scale in the field of guitar accompaniment

The aim of this research is to develop a valid and reliable self-efficacy scale in the field of guitar accompaniment. In the research, survey research design, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. Cluster sampling was used as the sampling unit and simple random sampling method was used as the sampling method. The sample of the research consists of N=242 participants among the 4th year undergraduate students of the music education department of 21 different universities. The Self-Efficacy Scale in the Field of Guitar Accompaniment was designed in a 5-point Likert type. In line with the literature review and expert opinions, there are 84 items in the draft scale. Data were collected by three different methods: face-to-face, by mail and online. SPSS 23 package program was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin (KMO) and Bartlett's test, the KMO value was determined as ,96 and the result of the Bartlett's Sphericity Test (χ2 = 21249,640; p<,05). According to this result, it is seen that the data obtained are suitable for factor analysis. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis (EFA), it was concluded that the final scale consisted of 22 items and 3 factors. The first factor was 54,59%; the second factor was 9,89%; the third factor was 6,37%, and the total variance explained was 70,85%. In line with the review of literature and expert opinions, the factors were named as Creativity, Technical Skill and Motivation respectively. As a result of the reliability test, Cronbach's Alpha coefficients for each factor and the whole scale were respectively calculated as ,94 for the Creativity factor; ,94 for the Technical Skill factor; ,90 for the Motivation factor and ,96 for the whole scale. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the Self-Efficacy Scale in the Field of Guitar Accompaniment is a valid and reliable scale.
