Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is argued that the guitar should be used effectively as a musical instrument that can be performed together with melody and accompaniment in music lessons. The aim of the study was to adapt the selected school songs to the guitar and to determine the effect of these adaptations on the quality of music lessons. For this purpose, it has been investigated how the music lessons planned with the guitar adapted to the guitar, the awareness of the teachers about the guitar instrument, the students singing the song melody correctly, increasing the interest of the students in the lesson and the effect of the teacher on the course satisfaction. The research was designed as action research from qualitative research approaches. The participants of the study were the music teacher of the school with 24 students in a secondary school in the district of Kartepe in Kocaeli province. In the process, the opinions of experienced, composer-guitarist educators were taken for the school songs adapted to the guitar by the researcher. The practice was carried out as a four-course song teaching activity. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the students and the teacher in the applications where the researcher participated as a participant. By taking video recordings of singing activities after the application, observation form of singing performance was developed and the observation was made by the researcher. The interview data were analyzed thematically. For validity and reliability, interview data were analyzed by two researchers at different times; then combined. Considering the findings obtained from the views of students and teachers in the research, when the school songs were used in music lessons, it has been reached that the students increased their awareness about the guitar, they could hear the tune more clearly and thus helped to sing the song in tone, students increased interest in the instrument and the music lesson and as the adaptations can be played with the guitar polyphonic, the music teacher teaches the lessons more efficiently and uses the instrument more effectively.
