Examples of repurposing and practice in maternity clothesdesign through functionality of clothes design

The repurposing method ensures that the garments that have fallen into the waste position under the forward transformation, which are gained value with a new transaction so re-put into use and thus help to prevent environmental pollution by minimizing the energy consumed. Due to the limited product and material in garment design, the repurposing method for the user with common home applications such as repair, replacement and sewing which becomes mandatory and the informed decisions based on the lifestyle, ideology, desire to preserve the world and limited resources can lead the user to this process. Also, the repurposing method encourages the user to retain the product by extend the the life span of the product, while also creating a wide area for user to demonstrate his creativity. The general aim of the thesis which topic is defined as "Examples of Repurposing and Practice in Maternity Clothes Design Through Functionality of Clothes Design"; research the reasons for emerge of repurposing in clothes design and to examine the application methods in terms of pregnant clothing design. In the light of the information obtained within the scope of the research, four functional maternity clothes were designed as an application example. The fact that there is no research and design proposal regarding the evaluation of postnatal maternity clothes makes even more important the practices in this subject.
