Özet (EN)

Experimental Investigation Of Two-Phase Thermosyphon Solar Water Heater Withlatent Heat StorageAlthough water is a cheap and effective medium for thermal energy storage, other options are currently being studied, to increase the storage density or to reduce the cost of the storage. A thermal behavior and performance of a two-phase thermosyphon solar water heater integrated to a latent heat storage unit, tested with calcium chloride hexahydrate (CaCl2.6H2O) as storage medium, have been studied experimentally, under the summer climatic conditions of Elazığ.This study experimentally studies the thermal performance of latent heat storage in a two-phase thermosyphon solar water heater, which utilizes the superior heat transfer characteristics of boiling and condensation, and eliminates drawbacks found in the conventional solar water heater. The objective of the study is to determine thermal performance of a two-phase thermosyphon solar water heater integrated to a latent heat storage unit. For this purpose, a two-phase thermosyphon solar water heater with phase change energy storage unit was designed, constructed, and tested. The results of all experiments indicate that, the use of phase change material (PCM) in the storage tank provide a significant benefit in increasing of storage water temperature at especially night. Keywords: Solar water heater, Two-phase thermosyphon, Latent heat storage, Phase change material (PCM)
