Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to adapt Global Pelvic Floor Bother Questionnaire (GPFBQ), which is developed to evaluate discomfort observed frequently in pelvic floor dysfunction and their severity, into Turkish and to research its validity and reliability. 131 cases, whose mean age was 46.83 and had at least one of the symptoms including stress urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, urge incontinence, voiding difficulty, pelvic organ prolapse, obstructive defecation, anal incontinence, and dyspareunia, were included in the study. Turkish adaptation of GPFBQ was made by following the stages of intercultural adaptation process. After socio-demographic characteristics of the cases were recorded, Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 (PFDI-20), Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire-7 (PFIQ), and GPFBQ were applied. Simplified pelvic organ prolapse classification system was used to determine the presence and stage of pelvic organ prolapse. For investigating test retest reliability of GPFBQ, the scale was applied again with a 1 week interval to 131 cases. p ≤0.05 was taken as the statistical significance level and PASW (SPSS. ver. 18) program was used in the estimations. GPFBQ's test retest reliability was examined by Intraclass r and coefficient of concordance was found to be 0.998 (p<0.0001). Internal consistency coefficient was examined by Cronbach alpha and it was 0.61 in the first measurement and 0.607 in the second measurement. GPFBQ's face and content validity was found appropriate by expert opinions. For the criteria validity of GPFBQ, correlation degrees between the total scores of GPFBQ and PFDE-20 and PFIQ-7 were estimated and it was determined that it had criteria validity (p≤0.05). For structure validity, confirmatory factor analysis was made and it was found that it wasn't one-dimensional and it had four dimensions. In the present study, it was determined that GPFBQ was a valid and reliable survey and able to be applied to Turkish women who had pelvic floor dysfunction.
