Abstract (EN)
Purpose: To compare the results of glaucomatous visual field (VF) defects with Humphrey Perimeter and Heidelberg Edge Perimeter (HEP), and to evaluate the structural and functional relationships with Heidelberg Retina Tomography (HRT) and Heidelberg Spectralis Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Materials and Methods: 56 eyes of 56 patients who had glaucomatous visual field defect and were followed in Glaucoma unit of Dokuz Eylul University, Ophthalmology Department were included in the study. All patients were evaluated with HEP 30.2 Flicker Defined Form (FDF), Standard Automated Perimeter (SAP) Std and Fast strategies, HAP 30.2 SITA Std and Fast strategies, with Optic Disc (OD) and Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (RNFL) analysis with HRT and OCT. Results: Of the 56 patients, 34 were male (%60.7) and 22 were female (%39.3). The mean age was 63.64 ± 11.17 years. In terms of test duration, the SITA Fast strategy had an advantage in terms of time shortening compared to SITA Std, whereas the Fast strategies in HEP SAP and HEP FDF had no advantage at all. The percentage of false negatives was higher in HEP strategies than in HAP strategies. In the correlation analysis of MD values of 30.2 visual field examinations, there was an excellent correlation between SITA Std and HEP SAP Std (r ꞊ 0.880, p ˂ 0.001), an excellent correlation between SITA Fast and HEP SAP Fast (r ꞊ 0.823, p ˂ 0.001), a strong correlation between SITA Std and HEP FDF ( r ꞊ 0.697, p ˂ 0.001), a strong correlation between SITA Fast and HEP FDF Fast ( r ꞊ 0.626, p ˂ 0.001), an excellent correlation between HEP SAP Std and HEP FDF Std (r ꞊ 0.810, p ˂ 0.001) and a very strong correlation between HEP SAP Fast and HEP FDF Fast (r ꞊ 0.735, p ˂ 0.001). In the correlation analysis of PSD values of 30.2 visual field examinations there was an excellent correlation between SITA Std and HEP SAP Std (r ꞊ 0.765, p ˂ 0.001) and an excellent correlation between SITA Fast and HEP SAP Fast (r ꞊ 0.757, p ˂ 0.001), whereas there were no correlations between SITA Std and HEP FDF Std ( r ꞊ -0.213, p ꞊ 0.115), between SITA Fast and HEP FDF Fast ( r ꞊ -0.186, p ꞊0.171) and between HEP SAP Std and HEP FDF Std (r ꞊ -0.34, p꞊ 0.324). A negative mild to moderate correlation between HEP SAP Fast and HEP FDF Fast (r ꞊ -0.303, p ꞊ 0.023). Although, there were correlations between HRT parameters and MD values of 30.2 visual field examinations generally, they were mild. There was no correlation between HRT parameters and PSD values of 30.2 visual field examinations. When the correlation between the mean MD values of the visual fields and the OCT RNFL thickness was analysed, generally a moderate correlation was observed. When the correlation between mean PSD values of 30.2 visual fields and OCT RNFL thickness was analysed low-to-moderate correlation was observed. Conclusion: There is an excellent correlation between SITA and HEP SAP in terms of MD and PSD values in 30.2 visual field examinations. Correlations of MD and PSD values with OCT parameters were found to be higher than correlation with HRT parameters.
