Abstract (EN)

One of the many perceptions attributed to women by society from the past to the present is the concept of motherhood. The situation becomes complicated when the difficulties of migration are added to the inequalities brought about by the phenomenon of motherhood internalized by women and working life. In this study, it is aimed to examine the motherhood experiences of working women in the context of migration. In the research, phenomenology design, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was used to reveal motherhood experiences. Since not all the participants were together, snowball sampling technique was used to reach the participants of the study. Within the scope of the study, data were obtained by going to the field and using semi-structured interview technique. Interviews with the participants started on 03/09/2022 and the interview process was completed on 06/11/2022. During the research, interviews were conducted in homes, workplaces and cafes upon the request of the participants. It was ensured that the perceptions and experiences of motherhood of different groups of women especially who migrated from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan to Ankara were included in this research. It was tried to examine the perspectives of the participants on the phenomenon of motherhood within social gender roles, the responsibilities of being a working mother, whether they are effective in making decisions on becoming a mother and whether there is a social influence on this issue. For this research, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 22 women using the snowball technique. The results of the research show that there have been changes in women's experiences of motherhood in working life and family life after migration.
