Mıgration' social and economic affects of migration: the case of Erzincan

Migration is an important phenomenon not only for humanity but also for societies. Because of the significance of the issue, the migration, which is the main theme of the study, have been examined from its all aspects. Today, migration have important role in shaping societies. In this context, the data used in the research about Erzincan province were obtained by using interview method with the participants and applying the questionnaire technique. The people who migrated to the Erzincan province of the universe of the study are 400 people living in Üzümlü province. The data obtained from the questionnaire were subjected to various analyse levels under the SPSS 16.0 statistical program. Questionnaire reliability test, frequency analysis, comparative analysis and Chi-square independence tests were conducted with this program. With regards to the data from the research, migrants have left their home countries because of economic concerns. As a result of these apprehension, they preferred to come to Turkey. In addition, security based problems in source countries push the people to migration process. Migrants in Erzincan dream to go back their home countries one day. Their expectations from the future are to meet their economic demand. Besides, as a result of the study, it is obvious to notice that migrants have various disappointments such as social integration and earning money.The end result of this important function of migration movements is various economic and social transformations. The main purpose of our study is to investigate the social and economic effects of the migration phenomenon in Erzincan province. Key Words: Migration, Immigration Process, Immigration Effects.
