Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine what kind of problems teachers with and without immigrant/refugee students face in their classrooms and their solution suggestions for this problem. Case study, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study. The study group of this research, which was conducted with qualitative research method, consists of 20 primary school teachers in 10 different schools in Gaziantep. Criterion sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the study group. With the criterion sampling method, it was determined that there should be one male and one female teacher from each school in accordance with the purpose of the research, that the selected teachers should have a bachelor's degree in primary school teacher education, have at least 5 years of professional experience, and that ten of the 20 teachers in the schools where they work do not have immigrant/refugee students in their classes and the other ten have immigrant/refugee students in their classes. Interview technique was used as a data collection tool in the study. In the interviews, a semi-structured interview form consisting of 10 questions developed by the researcher and expert opinions were taken. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. After the interviews with primary school teachers, codes, categories and themes were obtained. The results of the research revealed that the most common problem encountered by primary school teachers who have immigrant/refugee students in their classrooms is the language problem and the related problems of not understanding the lesson, having difficulty in communicating and expressing themselves. primary school teachers who do not have immigrant/refugee students in their classrooms, on the other hand, face problems such as students not doing homework/doing incomplete homework, loss of motivation in the last lessons of the day and difficulty in understanding. The reasons underlying the problems and suggestions for solutions to these problems were also analyzed.
