Alternative disinfection applications in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) eggs

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the newly fertilized and eyed eggs of the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were used samled from the Rearing Unit at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Fisheries and Aquaculture Research and Application Center. Different alternative disinfectants were tested to prevent fungal and bacterial losses caused by egg loss during the incubation period. For this purpose, the eggs obtained from broodstock in the research center were incubated with 100 eggs in modified zuger bottles with a volume of 500 ml. Totaly five different groups were used the study (two different doses of vinegar, NaOH, formalin and fruits of Phytolacca americana. The control group was formed and the differences between these groups were determined. Two different applications were applied to the static application and continuous fresh water flow to the system and the eggs were followed until the phase of the alevin. The results showed that NaOH administration in trout egg incubation had a decreasing effect on mortality, whereas other applications were not effective.
