Abstract (EN)
The earthquake in Gölcük on 17 August 1999 caused a big damage in Gölcük. Many buildings collapsed and thousands of people died because of the earthquake. The foundations and the institutions that made researches in the region after the earthquake declared that the city centre of Gölcük is located on the first degree earthquake zone and it is not appropriate for settlement. Therefore, the government research more secured areas related to ground for from the city centre for thousands of people who lost their home because of the earthquake. Then, they constructed secured houses in these places. Thus, new settlement areas are constructed in these areas.In these thesis, the new settlement areas which are consructed in Gölcük after earthquake of August 1999 are investigated. Firstly general characteristics of population and allocation in Gölcük are expressed to understand consruction of the new enclaves. Gölcük is one of the most riskful regions in our country that has the possibility of having earthquake. Therefore, in the second part of the thesis an information is given about it. In the third section the new settlement areas constructed in Gölcük after erthquake are expressed. The geological and geomorphologic reasons and individual and institutional factors related to construction of new settlement areas are treated in the first part of third section. Then, the new secured houses constructed by institutions with the new allocations for medby individual reasons are expressed.
