Evaluation of visual arts teachers' attitudes to relational art in the context of contemporary art practices

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the attitudes of Visual Arts teachers towards Relational Art in the context of Contemporary Art practices. First of all, art, which changes according to the dynamics of society, is discussed in the sense of relationships (god-human,human-object,human-human),and the definition of Contemporary Art before Relational Art, which is the artistic practice of the 90s, is examined, and Contemporary Art practices and the artists and works of the period are emphasized. Relational Art, which deals with human relations weakened by the wars and the development of technology in the 20th century and produces a work with the participation of the audience, has been tried to be explained by the artists working with the practice of Relational Art and their works based on Nicolas Bourriaud's book Relational Aesthetics. While there are changes in life and art, Contemporary Art education should also follow the developments. Art educators, who are expected to raise individuals who are sensitive to the world they live in in the artistic sense, are expected to have sufficient knowledge and equipment in terms of Contemporary Art and its practices. In the study, the questionnaire prepared with qualitative research technique was applied to 139 Visual Arts teachers affiliated to National Education and the attitudes of Visual Arts teachers towards Relational Art were analyzed on the basis of age, gender and professional experience variables with the Chi-square method of SPSS program. As a result of the research, it was understood that the attitudes of Visual Arts teachers towards Relational Art were positive. As a result of the research, it was understood that the attitudes of Visual Arts teachers towards Relational Art were positive. In the responses to the proposition "I am interested in artistic works and projects in which the artist, time, space, and participant (viewer) interact," a significant difference was seen between female and male Visual Arts Teachers, and it was concluded that female teachers were more interested in artist-time-space-audience interactive artistic works and projects than male Visual Arts teachers.
