Examining the role of technology transfer offices in the framework of the entrepreurial university: Akdeniz University tto case

In this thesis, the research has focused on the transition of Akdeniz University to the concept of "Entrepreneurial University" by regarding the services of AKDENIZ TTO. The main aim of the study is to introduce the role of technology transfer offices in the "Entrepreneurial University Model". Also, the sub-aims of the study are to examine the relationships between the historical evolution of universities, technology transfer, academic entrepreneurship and the concept of Entrepreneurial University. In the research, the quantitative performance goals of Akdeniz University and AKDENIZ TTO have been analyzed. Data was gathered by document analysis, participated observation and semi-structured interviews. The findings were classified as quantitative and qualitative themes. In conclusion, the research demonstrate that AKDENIZ TTO has contributed to the transformation of Akdeniz University to an "Entrepreneurial University". However, the transition has not been finished due to some internal and external reasons such as weak institutional structure of the university, unmature form of industry within the region etc.
