The reasons of gümüşhane university social work department students prefer the social work department

Education is a process that enters the life of an indiyidual from the moment she is born and takes place in her life until she dies. The education that starts in the family first is given in schools as regular (formal) education. When we look at the education system in Turkey, which starts with pre-school education, continues until the graduate and doctorate education stages, which are expressed as graduate education. For this, the student who enters the Higher Education Institutions Exam and obtains the required success ranking or score will be entitled to receive university education in the departments they will be placed in according to their preferences. There are many factors that affect and determine these preferences for students who will make their university and deparment preferences according to their success ranking. This thesis aims to investigate the reasons for the preference of students who will choose a university. In this context, the subject of the study is the reasons for preference of the students who prefer the Social Work Department of Gümüşhane University and the situations they encounter before and after the choice. In line with this purpose, three topics were focused on in the survey questions prepared to analyze the reasons for the university and department preferences of the students. Students' reasons for choosing a university and a department were examined under the headings of factors affecting the choice, reasons for preference, and opinions about the department that they settled after choosing
