The place of ceramic and its exhibition in contemporary art

The curatorial concept that surfaced in Europe in the 1970s began to evolve later in Turkey in the 1990s. The infulence of the traditional exhibition was less important, instead of this the conseptual approach and group works were considered as a priority. This encouraged the international art scence to realize the universal concept of artists from Turkey. Looking at current affairs and developments in the world, the contemporary art scene led to a new path that developed naturally, unil the mid 2000s. Annalyzing this direction, art galleries replaced curators and art fairs took precedence over the biennials and the art market. This thesis is titled "Place and Exhibition of Ceramics in Contemporary Art". Showing us how ceramics are positioned in contemporary art. Revealing how galleries, fairs and curators look at the discipline of ceramics, whether they prefer it and how it is transformed, in the environment where salability is more important than content. Surveying the meaning of contemporary art concepts in this context, and how it has changed in time and how it has come up. Biennials have shaped this area of exhibitions, art institutions, galleries and auctions. Analyzing the location of ceramic art in the contemporary art scene in Turkey. While investigating the theoretical books published today from the 1990s, looking at critical essays, exhibition catalogs, scanned in different articles published in various publications. This point evaluated at Adnan Saygun Cultural Arts Center from the 19th to the 23rd of June 2015. Using different "Photocopies" this exhibition was held with artists working in various disciplines.
