Abstract (EN)
Silence takes a mysterious stance in all areas where it is used as a concept. This mystery has made it remarkable at all times. The representation of silence in art, as in all fields throughout history, gains meaning primarily through indicators. The new views and meanings gained by silence as the understanding of art and the types of art ensure that silence continues to be the center of attention. In this context, silence appears as image, symbol and concept in works of art. It can be said that art insights and genres produce their own symbolism of silence by using materials that change with the creativity of artists to create images. In the Master's Thesis work titled "Representation of Silence in Contemporary Art", how the concept of silence is represented in art was investigated in terms of art aesthetics and philosophy, and also explained by studying on the selected artists with the data and style elements of contemporary art. In the first part of this thesis study, which consists of two main parts, how the representation of silence in the art as avant-garde, abstract, figurative, metaphor and emptiness has been questioned in terms of cultural, philosophical and aesthetic approaches, and important data have been obtained. The data obtained is in the second part of the thesis, the artworks in contemporary art and the indicators in artist approaches; image, stain, object, metaphor, emptiness, etc. A new initiative on the views of the representation of silence in art was examined through the concepts of art. In this context, research data and evaluations gain importance in terms of setting an example for the redefinition of Contemporary Art concepts through the concept of silence. Keywords: Silence, Contemporary art, Conceptual art, Metaphor, Emptiness
