Abstract (EN)
Absorption cooling cycles require a heat source for the use in the generator. This heat source can be supplied from renewable energy sources such as solar energy and geothermal energy. There are fluid pairs used in absorption systems and preferred according to design conditions. The most commonly used fluid pairs are LiBr-H2O, NH3-H2O and LiCl-H2O. In this thesis study, the simulation of a single stage absorption cooling system for Antalya province was performed by using Engineering Equation Solver (EES) program. While LiBr-H2O is preferred as the fluid pair, solar energy is preferred as generator heat source. The pressure, temperature, enthalpy and entropy of the fluid pair are determined by the EES program for the cooling load of 10kW. Then, the first and second law analyses of thermodynamics were performed. With the results obtained, the cooling coefficient of performance (COP) and exergy efficiency were calculated. The effects of variable system operating conditions on the COP and exergy efficiency are presented by tables and figures in the results and discussion section of the thesis. In solar energy calculations, the maximum required collector area and solar fraction (FNP: the fraction of the total load met by non-purchased energy) are calculated depending on solar radiation and the results are presented in the same section
