Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, the use of eco-friendly solutions instead of primary energy resource based on HVAC systems is more important for a sustainable life. For this, It emerges as a sustainable opportunity for heating and cooling of buildings with solar assisted HVAC systems. In this thesis, it had been developed solar assisted HVAC system and determination of performance analysis for Izmir province climatic conditions. This system developed during the thesis study consists of a photovoltaic module, TEC (thermoelectric cooler) panel, and air ducts. This system has been designed to provide heating in winter and cooling in summer, and intervention covers providing flow control are used to ensure seasonal operation. It has been used one 285 Wp photovoltaic module and 8 (3,7A/8,2V) Peltier units for the design of the system. The TEC panel made of Peltier units has been designed with the maximum power of 242,72 W. In this system, in the winter, the fresh air taken from the outside is passed through the air duct on the hot side of the TEC panel and transferred to the inside of the room, and conditioning of the room is ensured. The cold air in the room is absorbed by the system and is passed through the air duct at the cold side of the TEC panel and transferred to the outside. In summer, fresh air from outside is passed through the air duct on the cold side of the TEC panel and transferred to the room. The hot air in the room is absorbed by the system and is passed through the air duct at the hot side of the TEC panel and transferred to the outside. It has been used the test room of ground floor in the Ege University Solar Energy Institute building in order to determine the annual performance of the developed system in this thesis. For experimental studies, the system has been placed on the south facade of the test room. In order to determine the system performance, an experimental setup consisting of "the temperature, solar radiation, air humidity, wind speed and flow speed" measuring sensors and the data-logger unit has been established. It has been realized the performance analysis of this system according to the measurement of the temperatures (front and back surface of the photovoltaic module, cold and warm side of the TEC panel, in the air ducts, indoor and ambient). According to the experimental studies carried out in 2018, On the coldest day of the year (January 9, 2018), the outdoor temperature changed between -0,26°C and +7,26°C, while the PV backside temperature was maximum 29,12°C. According to the maximum PV efficiency reached during the coldest day was 19,51%. At the same time, the COP of the TEC panel was 2,33. On the hottest day of the year (July 30, 2018), the outdoor temperature changed between 24,26°C and 36,96°C, while the PV backside temperature was maximum 52,1°C. According to the maximum PV efficiency reached during the coldest day was 17,58%. At the same time, the COP of the TEC panel was 0,91. According to experimental studies conducted throughout the year, the utility of the photovoltaic module used as the energy supplier of the system varied between 20% in winter and 17.6% in summer. The photovoltaic module produced the maximum of 110 Wh energy on the coldest day, which decreased to 75 Wh on the hottest day. In view of this information, it has shown the experimental studies that the TEC panel was a performance-enhancing effect on the photovoltaic module.
